It’s competition time again here on Ireland’s Wildlife — and this time we’re giving you the chance to win a fabulous pair of German-made Minox BL 8×44 HD binoculars worth an amazing €635. You can read our full review of this excellent binocular here.

For your chance to win this fantastic prize all you have to do is fill in the entry form below… (if you don’t know the answer to the multiple choice question just look it up online or in your field guide).

A huge thank you to Minox UK & Ireland for offering Ireland’s Wildlife readers the chance to win such an amazing prize.

The rules:

  • The competition is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland and the UK
  • As a condition of entry you agree to opt in to receive the Ireland’s Wildlife quarterly email newsletter and occasional wildlife related announcements and updates we may send from time to time.
  • The prize is a brand new pair of Minox BL 8×44 HD binoculars that have only been used briefly for review purposes here at Ireland’s Wildlife. They are covered by the 30 year Minox Comfort Service warranty
  • There is no cash alternative to the prize
  • The competition closes at the end of the day on Wednesday 23 July 2014.
  • The correct answer to the multiple-choice question has been derived from a number of authoritative online and offline sources including The Birds of Ireland, A Field Guide, The Collin’s Bird Guide and the BTO Birdfacts gannet page. The answer is final, and we will not enter any correspondence in relation to its validity.
  • After the closing date we will draw a winner at random from all the correct entries received, will inform the lucky winner via email and announce the results via this website and through Ireland’s Wildlife social media platforms.

By submitting your entry you agree to the rules outlined above.

If you have trouble with the embedded form below you’ll find a stand-alone web entry form here. Good luck!

Hi Jo, I looked across several online and offline sources and took a median figure from the range — so I’m not going to give you an specific source for the answer but references include The Birds Of Ireland, A Field Guide, The Collins Bird Guide, and the BTO Birdfacts gannet page.

      Good luck!

      • Thank you. Took an average from the measurements I read online. Let’s hope for the best now!!! Lol. Nice prize!!!

The Gannet’s wingspan is up to detail removed.

I really need a new pair, the ones I use at the moment I have had since 1987. (Tasco 15×35)
