2023 Discover Wildlife Weekend Dates

January 12, 2023 by Calvin Jones 2 Comments

Our popular Discover Wildlife Weekends will once again take place in spring, summer and autumn of 2023. As always, we’ll be hosting the weekends in Rosscarbery, on the stunning West Cork stretch of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

What are Discover Wildlife Weekends?

Discover Wildlife Weekends are the perfect opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle for a few days, and spend some time outdoors, with like-minded people, enjoying the wildlife of a remarkable stretch of the Irish coastline with a professional wildlife guide.

Based at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery, the weekends are informal, informative and, above all, fun. From Ireland’s smallest bird to the second largest animal on earth — the breadth and depth of wildlife we can encounter on these weekends is staggering, and you never quite know what you might see. The unpredictable nature of wildlife is one of the things that makes these weekends so exciting.

Check out our Discover Wildlife Weekend page for more details and to book your place… but don’t wait too long. We only have room for 12 guests on each weekend, and places can fill quickly. You can also read about some of our previous Discover Wildlife Weekends here.

Choughs up close and personal
Choughs, a rare and charismatic member of the crow family, are a West Cork speciality — this one was photographed by our guide in Rosscarbery where our Discover Wildlife Weekens are based.

    Hi Calvin
How much is it for a weekend trip for a solo traveller?

Hi Frances… the fee for the weekend itself is €100 per person. You’re free to arrange local accommodation yourself, but we do have a special accommodation package with the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery, and most guests choose to avail of that option. Weather permitting there’s also a whale watching boat trip with Cork Whale Watch on the Saturday — the discounted fee for that is payable directly to the skipper on board after the trip should it go ahead. You’ll find all the details, and can book your place on the Discover Wildlife Weekend page here.
