I’ve just discovered that the nomination window for Blog Awards Ireland 2012 has been extended to 30 July. While I’m sure that you’ve all been along and nominated Ireland’s Wildlife already, I figured there was no harm in just letting you all know… casual like… that the opportunity is still there.
On a more serious note, I started the Ireland’s Wildlife page and the associated Facebook, Twitter and Flickr accounts to encourage people to engage with Ireland’s wonderful natural heritage, to build a community of people passionate about Irish nature, share their experiences, tap into a groundswell of expertise and generally raise the profile of Irish wildlife and nature across Ireland and abroad.
In part it’s succeeded. The site and the social media community around it is growing steadily and momentum is growing. But it’s still very early days. To maintain that momentum and build on it we need to raise the profile of the site, let more people know about it, engage with them and encourage them to spread the word in turn.
That’s part of what Blog Awards Ireland is all about, raising the profile of worthwhile blogs, introducing more people to great content that they’ll enjoy and want to share.
So if you enjoy reading this blog, and would like to let more people know about it, please take a couple of minutes to nominate Ireland’s Wildlife for an award.
There are several categories to choose from… and you can pick whichever you feel most suitable. Some suggestions are: Best Science / Education Blog or Best Eco / Green Blog (although to be honest I don’t think it fits neatly into any one category).
Thanks in advance for your support!
