Eagles and Fin Whales star on Ireland’s Wild South Coast

White-tailed Eagle: Wildlife Holidays in Ireland
A White-tailed Eagle in Glengarriff, Co. Cork on our Ireland’s Wild South Coast holiday.

The best part of being a wildlife guide on Ireland’s south coast is being able to share the incredible wildlife of this stunning stretch of coastline with people from Ireland and around the world. It’s fantastic to see people’s reactions when they see for themselves why we call this Europe’s Undiscovered Wildlife Frontier.

Our latest wildlife holiday was a case in point — leading a group of UK visitors for 6 wildlife-filled days on our signature Ireland’s Wild South Coast tour.

Wildlife Holiday Europe: watching Bottlenose Dolphins, Otter and Harbour Seal in Kinsale
Watching Bottlenose Dolphins just outside the pretty coastal town of Kinsale on Day 1 of the tour.

The highlights started within an hour of collecting the group in Cork City, when we picked up Bottlenose Dolphins, Otter and Harbour Seal feeding in the estuary just outside the picture-postcard coastal town of Kinsale. Throughout the six days we had some fantastic wildlife encounters, including close-up views of a lunge-feeding Fin Whale; Minke Whales from shore and out on the water; dozens and dozens of Common Dolphins; diving Gannets; Manx, Sooty and Great Shearwaters; White-tailed Eagles; Red Squirrels and much, much more.

It was a whirlwind six days of outstanding wildlife-watching, visiting coastal hotspots from The Old Head of Kinsale to Galley Head, to Cape Clear Island, Glengarriff and more. We can’t wait to do it all again — but no two trips are ever the same, so who knows what we might encounter next time around?

You can read a full trip report of last week’s tour on our dedicated Ireland’s Wildlife Tours website here.
